Bar Abilene was conceived, developed, and is managed by the umbrella organization Cuisine Concepts, with principals John Dayton, Wayne Kostroski, and Mark Haugen.

Cuisine Concepts also operates Goodfellow's Restaurant, located in downtown Minneapolis, Tejas Restaurant in Edina, the Franklin Street Bakery, a wholesale bakery with a flagship retail store located in Marshall Field's in downtown Minneapolis, Tejas Express, located in Marshall Field's Skyroom in downtown Minneapolis, and a restaurant management and consulting business.
